Manu Bennett is set to return as Arrow’s Deathstroke
Arrow star Stephen Amell has taken to Twitter to reveal that Manu Bennett will return to the series as the lethal Deathstroke. In the context of the series, Slade Wilson has been imprisoned in the A.R.G.U.S. facility on Lian Yu since season two of the series and made a brief appearance in season 3. Since then the character has appeared in hallucinations and dreams but Bennett did not reprise the role for those instances.
For further context, just last week executive producer Wendy Mericle teased to EW that the upcoming season finale for the series saying: "The alliances are going to be very surprising. You're not going to believe who Oliver is working with to defeat Prometheus. It's going to be really emotional. It's going to be all about Oliver's family, but not the family we're thinking of right now. It's going to end in a giant explosion, but not where we think it's going to end, and the emotional punch is going to be bigger than the actual physical part of the bombs going off."
Those comments seemingly line up with the reveal that Bennett will return, though it remains to be seen if he will stick around for longer than one episode or even reprise his role in the upcoming sixth season of the series.
Arrow won’t return to The CW until Wednesday, April 26 with an episode titled “Dangerous Liaisons” which is described as follows:
“Oliver, Team Arrow, ARGUS and the SCPD kick off a citywide manhunt for Adrian Chase (Josh Segurra). Helix tells Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) they have a way to find Chase but they will need something big, and illegal, from her in return. “
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcom Merlyn, with Paul Blackthorne as Detective Lance. The series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter.
UPDATE: While Bennett will apparently be back in the mask, it turns out that it won’t be for Arrow! The actor just posted the below to his Twitter account, hinting that Deathstroke’s return might be for a different CW series altogether…
